Almost two years ago I saw my twin flame, the one who touched my heart, cross over and it caused my own heart-stroke that night.

There was quite a bit of unwelcome touches while I was in the ER and in the hospital, but I’ll never forget the one touch of a doctor. A very gentle touch, the briefest of touches against my cheek and forehead. It was only to check for fever, but it grounded me back into my body. It was kind. It felt like connection. It connected me again to my own body as well as the outside world. It brought things back into focus.

Such a simple touch really, but just for that particular moment, the complete devastation of my world felt held at bay, I felt less alone. I felt comforted by a stranger’s touch.

 

Touch connects us. Touch shows us ourselves in relation to the external world and our external relationships. Touch shows us the space we occupy and our reach.  

 

Touch creates and amplifies love.

It is our first sense to fully develop and to experience love through as human beings.

It enhances relationship satisfaction and it can even help to smooth the rough edges of conflict.

When we touch each other, we release oxytocin and we experience a greater sense of trust, closeness, empathy and connection. It strengthens our bond and sense of safety and security. It calms our nerves, lowers our blood pressure, boosts our immune system and even helps with the experience and coping with of physical pain. 

 

A lover’s touch is more than just physical contact. It communicates love, builds intimacy and contributes to our overall wellbeing.
